So heres our stock 96-98 civic dash. It uses the good old fasioned cable system and the radio isnt a standard shape.

After disconnecting our battery (we always do that dont we) we start by removing the glovebox. There are 2 screw/bolts on the under side.

Here are the parts we will be using to complete this swap. from the left. 99-00 blower, 99-00 heater box and core, 99-00 civic dash (You can make it work without swapping the dash), 99-00 heater component harness, 99-00 heater controlls with harness, 99-0

Next we remove the panel under the steering wheel. 3 screws, one wire clip (dimmer) and then just pull it out.

next we remove the piece of plastuc under the stereo section. 2 screws underneath, and the 4 corners. the bottom passenger corner is a black bolt/screw just so you remember.

Now under the stereo are 2 silver screws and 2 gold screws (one of the silver ones is behind the wiring in this picture. remove them.

Bad picture but behind the hazard switch and the defrost switch are 2 more screws. after you take these out you should ba able to pop out the whole thing.

Also dont forget to remove the cable from the heater core box. Just un clip it and slide it off the post.

Next remove the bezel arround the gauges (2 screws under the top) and then just pop it out.

Then take out the gauges. 4 screws and 3 wiring cips on the back.

Now we need to remove the center console. just look for the screws on the sides, also unscrew your shift knob from the shift lever. and also remove the cupholders.

Under the cup holders you need to remove these 2 gold bolts.

Now on top of the dash in the middle use a short small flathead to pop off the cover and then remove this bolt. Youll probably need a long extension. and a universal joint would help too.

Now back on the drivers side next to the fuse box are 2 bolts on the left. one up front and one farther back.

Now the tricky one is in the back up top. you will almost have to lay down on the floor and reach up there to get this one. You can see I already have the scoket on there to help you spot it.

Now take out the 3 screws in the ignition cover and pop it out.

Under the steering rack whatever this piece is for it needs to be removed.

Now we need to lower the steering rack. Take the 2 bolts holding the U clamp and 2 nuts holding it up near the ignition switch.

Now we need to strip everything out of the fuse box front and back. dont worry about labeling anything cause each clip ony fits in one spot.

Theres only one more bolt holding the dash in and that up under where the steering rack was. after you take this out the dash will only be holding on by wiring. Remove them and youll be able to take it out. (The bolt is the close gold one in this picture

Now under the dash we have some work to do. Here you can see the heater hoses where they connect to the heater core. These things are a pain in the ass to remove and usually have to be cut free. The one on the right is easily replaceable with a piece of h
